1. Do I need a physician's referral for Physical Therapy?
No. Maryland is a direct access state which means you may seek physical therapy services without a physician referral.
However, some insurance companies require a physician referral before services will be authorized. Do not hesitate to consult a physical therapist regarding your condition first. They can direct you to a specialist.
